What breed would best fit in with my home and lifestyle? Consider the temperment of the breed, exercise needs, adult size, etc.
What is the cost of the puppy? This is no time to hunt for a bargain. Remember that this puppy will soon be a part of your family for his/her lifespan.
Can I afford a puppy? Being a responsible owner you will need to consider the life-long cost of your pets vet care, dog food, grooming, etc.
Have I selected a well-respected, responsible breeder? Do your research, ask around to help find a breeder with a good reputation. This is a SUPER important step! This will help ensure you are getting a happy, healthy, socialized and well-adjusted puppy. Make sure that the breeder that is honest, has a good immunization protocol, a safe/clean home environment for adults and puppies to live in, socialized puppies and a good code of ethics.
